Hello 2021!

New year, New YOU, New TAN!                                                                    Happy New Year, spray tanners!

It’s a new year, and I’m definitely going to let the new me shine bright this year with our glowing tan from Superior Spray Tanning! It’s 2021, so let’s get your tanning goals started off the right way and help you achieve and maintain your glow!

First, no matter what time of year it is, you want to have that sun-kissed glow that we all find so appealing.

People are making their 2021 New Year’s resolutions. For many, forming healthy habits is a high priority, including more physical activity, healthy eating or quitting smoking. This year, consider adding this one to your list – Resolve to Make 2021 the year of No Tanning Beds. By avoiding tanning beds, you decrease your risk for skin cancer, maintain a healthy and younger looking complexion. It’s like three resolutions rolled into one.

Decrease Your Risk of Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is a global epidemic with 90 percent of all cases caused by sun exposure, according to the Skin Cancer Foundation. It is also the most common type of cancer in the United States. For those who use tanning beds, the risk of forming melanoma increases by 74 percent compared to those who never frequent tanning salons, claims a report in the journal of Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention. And for those who spend more than 50 hours under those indoor UV rays, the risk triples. Even more troubling, the newer high-pressure tanning beds (that mostly emit UVA rays) can increase the risk to four times.

Maintain a Healthy, Younger Looking Complexion Longer

Ultraviolet radiation may cause irreversible changes in the skin including fine wrinkles, deep grooves, blotchiness, sagging and a leathery texture. Some of these changes may appear as early as the age of 20 in anyone who has spent a great deal of time in the sun during childhood and teen years. Artificial tanning can cause any or all of these unwanted cosmetic effects and contribute to premature aging of the skin.

The use of tanning beds can create undesirable long term effects. The benefits of avoiding them can be significant – and it’s never too late to break a bad habit!  Join us in saying “No” to tanning beds.

Avoiding tanning beds is the first step toward a healthy, happy New Year and New You!

Goodbye 2020!

I think that we all can say GOODBYE to 2020!                                               It was a crazy year for Superior Spray Tanning as well. We had many of our brides have to postpone their special day.  We had many of our pageant, dance and cheer clients miss out on a season of competitions. We had all of our high school clients not get to go to their prom or graduation.  And we missed catching up with our regular clients throughout the year due to the coronavirus shutdown! We hope that we can put 2020 behind us and move on to 2021.

A TAN: THE WARMEST GIFT OF THE HOLIDAY SEASON

This Christmas, cold tones can stay outside while you get the perfect tan as a gift for your friends or yourself. With the biggest holiday of the year just around the corner, Christmas is a time of joy and an opportunity to spend time with your loved ones. Gift giving is the biggest tradition of the season but holiday shopping can turn into chaos as the date approaches. If you’re looking for the perfect gift, whether for yourself or a friend, a touch of color might be exactly what you’re looking for. Get a tan that will get you all the looks this season and choose your favorite way to get bronzed skin.

Spray Tanning with Acne

Can spray tanning help mask your acne?

Acne is never fun to deal with especially the more severe it gets. We’ve all been through it and, although it may seem difficult, with most people it eventually subsides with little effect. So what can you do to cover it up? Is spray tanning the right solution?

Of course when we talk about tanning solutions for acne we aren’t referring to UV based tanning. This includes both bed tanning and traditional tanning under the sun; Both of which cause trauma to the skin and increase melanoma leading to cancer risks.

One of the main bi-products of acne is dead skin – The bane of tanning solutions! Spray tanning solutions contain the chemical DHA which can change the color of dead skin cells. Typically, dead skin tends to hang around pimples which can actually darken that area when spray tanning is applied. This means dark spots on your face!

So what’s the solution? Exfoliating! The more you exfoliate in the little time before your spray tan, the better chance you have of an even tan across your face. It’s also good to explain your situation to your spray tanning professional as most have tips to ensure even coating across acne areas. An easy trick is to apply thin coats to ensure proper toning of the skin and prevent spotting. It may take longer but will definitely produce the results you’re looking for.

Don’t worry about tanning solutions causing more acne. With proper exfoliation you’ll remove dead skin cells and prevent escalating your acne after your next spray tan.
